Summary of Pratisarga Parva.

Bhavishya Purana was written by Veda Vyasa about 3500-5000 years ago to predict the future in Kali-yuga. Bhavisya means the future,  Purana means history.

Kali-yuga is the 4th yuga, it is early Kali-yuga at present time. There were Satya yuga, Dwapara Yuga, and Treta yuga earlier before Kali-yuga.

Introduction

Bhavisya Purana is the 11th of 18 Puranas, compiled by Veda Vyasa in Sanskrit. The story also mentioned in Siva Rahasya Khanda, Sankara Samhita, Padma Purana, and Manusmriti.

Contains 4 parts (parvan).

1. Brahma Parva- Brahmanical ceremonies/feast, the duty of Varna, women, snake myths, a good and bad signs of human, method of worship of Brahma, Skanda, Surya, Ganesh, Naga, and Vishnu.

2. Madhyama Parva- Tantric elements.

3.Pratisarga Parva - Genealogy of Kings, it is universal history.

(a) 1st khanda/part - ancient history, old-time, Genesis, Exodus, etc about 7 chapters.

b)  2nd part - ancient history, old-time, including Ishamasiha (Jesus), about 35.chapters.  

c) 3rd part- history of medieval, mentioned about Mahamada, Krishnamacarita, Queen Victoria, etc, about 32 chapters.  

d) 4th part, modern history, new age, mentioned Qutubuddin, Sankara, Mughal, Garundas/British occupation in India, about 26 chapters.

4. Uttara Parva. - study of vow,festival,donations.,heaven.

Summary of Pratisarga Parva

The summary (part) of the story needs to be focused on current religious phenomena. Dharmic religion versus Pisacha religion.

Kaliyugasura is a demon such as Ravana of Ramayana, Kaliyugasura, and all his ancestors were born out of incest (brother and sister). Kaliyugasura also mentioned as God of Mlecha. Please do not confuse with Mother Kali, the divine reincarnation of Parasakti.

Kaliyugasura (satan), (such as Ravan in Ramayan) get a boon from Maha Vishnu to increase his follower/descendants after he did a long penance. So Vishnu created  Adama and Havyavati in order to fulfill the promise to Kaliyugasura.

After created Adama and Havyavati, Maha Vishnu warns them (Adama and Havyavati) the intention of Kaliyugasura wants his followers to be increased. Somehow Kaliyugasura deceived them under the Papa Vriksa tree, thus they started to procreate and the children of them (Adama) were born. The descendants become the follower of Kaliyugasura.

Then increased Kaliyugasura’s descendant.  The story continues with Nyuha, Musa, up until the appearance of Mahamada (demoniac ghost) to cheat humans from the dharmic path to pisacha (evil) dharma. That is what in the Bhavisya Purana.

According to Bhavishya Purana and Shiva Purana, Mahamada is demonic ghost of Tripurasura which will deceive people from the dharma path into adharma path.

During this Kali age, this Kaliyugasura will invade the mind of people to do all kinds of inhumane, adharmic activities.  Humans will engage in negative activities. Humans will deviate from dharmic religion, will reject Vedas,  stop doing Yagna, disparage temples and pilgrimage places, never pray Shiva, Vishnu, etc.

Maha Vishnu will end the adharmic religion. Kalki Avatar, (10th Avatar of Vishnu) will descend to eliminate the demons. We will come across a list of demons such as Mahamada,  Sahoda, Karbura, etc. Kaliyugasura is the chief of the demon. Based on Kalki Purana, Kalki the avatar of Mahavishnu will eliminate all the adharmic demons to bring back Satya Yuga, bring back Dharmic religion.
